Exposing Corruption

OPI has the power to investigate, uncover and expose corruption. With this power comes great responsibility. We are committed to detecting, investigating and preventing corruption and misconduct so that the Victorian community can have confidence in its police.

Exposing police corruption and misconduct can inform the community about the nature, extent and causes of such corruption and misconduct, and highlight the need for reforms to address the problem.

It also acts as a deterrent by making those responsible for police corruption and misconduct publicly accountable; as well as by demonstrating that such conduct will be detected, investigated and prevented.
