Ethics in Practice
OPI’s role is to identify corruption and misconduct risks. In this task, we work with Victoria Police and other agencies to develop practical solutions for building police integrity.
By focusing on policies, practices and other systemic factors, we can provide recommendations to Victoria Police about how to both reduce the potential for corruption and misconduct while building resistance to corrupting influences.
Identifying the factors that enable corruption and misconduct allow for early intervention in order to prevent the behaviour or to resist its impact.
OPI supports ethical police practice through:
- Advice and consultancy to Victoria Police
- Applied research
- Awareness-raising across Victoria Police
- Community education
- Environmental scanning and analysis of corruption trends
- Thematic and systemic reviews
- Education of Victoria Police
